This 27 acre master plan of Adani’s Shatigram –Meadows in Ahmadabad, Gujarat is located on SarkhejGandhinagar Highway. The master plan consists of 11 C- shaped, G+16 storey buildings. The concept while designing the master plan was understood as a dwelling with a multiple personality. One that would react to different seasons and open itself to two different environments; on one side, a street belonging to a new urban development, but close to the urban life of Ahmadabad, and on the other side, a bounded and intimate, safe neighborhood.
In fact; this project seems like a static collection of spaces, devoted to private and intimate spaces, and another to dynamic ones, dedicated to social life. Also there are some spaces that are able to transform itself. The architectural solution of this master plan allows the inhabitants to enjoy the different spaces. The layout strongly demonstrates how the preservation of existing trees on site can be undertaken and achieved through the design. In fact, the basement layout’s organic profile excludes the green zones on the site. This exclusive decision making enhances the greens to keep it unified and allows the big trees to grow real. The concerns about the landscape did come at a cost but triumphs the architect for being eco-sensitive.
The design team has employed a number of sustainable design strategies, such as recycling water and Grey water for irrigation. Its exteriors reduce the heat / solar loads and most of the interior spaces have good ventilation. The project incorporates extensive green roofs, solar panels, and low-energy LED lighting, and provides ample bicycle storage to encourage non-car commuting.
